Crescendo's full resources joined
forces to performed the captivating antiphonal repertoire from the
celebrated tradition of St. Marco in Venice: the spectacular Cori
Spezzati. Rarely performed Flemish Renaissance composer Adrian
Willaert's vocal and instrumental works -- the first known published
examples -- began the tradition. In the astonishing century that
followed, as the early Baroque flowered, antiphonal church music
flourished. This culminated in the beloved Psalms of David of
Dresden Hofkappellmeister Heinrich Schutz.
An historic event and an unusual spatial
experiment.
Cornetto player Kiri Tollaksen from Indiana

leading colleagues playing Early Baroque winds, with concertmaster Lisa
Rautenberg and our Viola de Gamba Consort.
