Classical singer and high-toned commedienne Imelda
Franklin Bogue stars in The Secret Life of Opera Singers, a
once-in-a-lifetime cabaret act which takes lovers and haters of the
great art form on a unique journey beginning in the mind of an
outrageously stubborn ten-year-old girl who wants to sing at the Met
and won't take no for an answer. Tales of triumph, terror and psychotic
voice teachers are interwoven into the musical narrative, and as the
audience is taken "behind the scenes" they learn and sing an Italian art
song, find cutting-edge emotional truth in great classical music, and
are swept into the story of one musician redefining her own idea of
success.
Ms. Bogue, an opera singer and Crescendo
soloist from Seattle, WA, collaborates with concert pianist (and
Crescendo pianist) Anne Voglewede Green in
this new production of The Secret Life of Opera Singers, which features
the music of Giuseppe Verdi, G.F. Handel, Gilbert and Sullivan, G.
Rossini, and Gabriel Faure.
Crescendo thanks Imelda Franklin
Bogue and Anne Vogelwede Green, pianist, for their generosity in
bringing this performance to us. We loved it!
