Jan Dismas Zelenka Project

Crescendo presented the United States premiere of the Missa Votiva (1739) of Czech-born composer Jan Dismas Zelenka (1679 - 1745) at concerts November 13 and 14, 2010, in Great Barrington, MA, and Lime Rock, CT.  Rehearsals began in May for this challenging program, which included: Missa Votiva ZWV 18 (Dresden 1739) -- US Premiere for SATB choir, SATB soloists, two oboes, strings, and basso continuo in E minor.    Carl Heinrich Graun (1704-1759) Trio Sonata in F major, op. 1/5 for two flutes (oboe and recorder) and basso continuo: Large (1)/Adagio (III)   Both works were conducted by Christine Gevert, Artistic Director of Crescendo.
