| One of our goals in Crescendo is to bring
wonderful music that is rarely -- sometimes never -- heard out of obscurity and
to begin the long process of making it part of the standard American repertoire.
Interestingly, some of our premieres are not new music -- the earliest so far
was composed in 1739. Here is a partial list of our premieres to
date:
- Crescendo's collaboration with Simon's Rock of
Bard College in presenting Totentanz was not
technically a premiere since the work had been presented a number of times
previously. It was, however, the first-ever production of Totentanz as the
composer had envisioned it, as a multi-media work incorporating speakers,
dancers, art, and music.
- Telemann
- Crescendo presented the World premiere of
Artistic Director Christine Gevert's Soneto a Laura (2010) at the
Latin American Choral Music
concert in April 2010.
-
Jan Dismas Zelenka's
Missa Votiva ZWV 18 (Dresden 1739) -- US Premiere
for
SATB choir, SATB soloists, two oboes, strings, and basso continuo in E minor
-- presented in November 2010.
